Posted by Terx's daughter on another forum this morning.
I am Tex's daughter and am here with Daddy as he makes his "final approach". Daddy is more than ready to, as he says, "go home". As is so typical of Dad, every day is unpredictable. Last week he had a bad fall and seriously injured his back. His wonderful Drs. and friends did everything they could but the pain has been unbarable so he was sent home with Hospice in place. His heart has been and is functioning at about 10%. He has the spirit of a young man and the heart of a very old man. A very difficult situation for this go to man with his sharp as a tack mind. After days of being almost comatose, he revived this past Thursday and sang hymns with my sister and I and even played Dixie on his harmonica. Go figure!! The next day he wanted to have a party so we allowed everyone who called to drop in which was about 60+- people. He sang and played again and had a great time. Yesterday he did not move the entire day. Thanks to each of you for your prayers and words of encouragement. I read them all to Dad and I know it is good medicine. I will post when he makes a safe landing. Thanks, Shannon

Many thanks for posting that letter, Jack.

You just gotta' love a man who sings hymns with his kids! How wonderful for Shannon and siblings to have grown up in a home with such a dad!

Best wishes to Tex.

There are many of us up here in Canada that spent our youth reading about the AVG and in particular your Dad.
On behalf of all us "Canuks" please wish him all the best and thanks for all he done.

Tex will be glad to hear that his AVG exploits have been translated into Canadian.

I left a message for his daughter Shannon over at the AVG forum to tell Tex everyone missed him at the autograph tent this year. He was our guest at the HGCA gun show in May. I spoke to him just recently to invite him to the airshow and make flight arrangements and he said he would be there "God willing". He has been our guest every year since we started the tent. I will post some pics of past shows. It's just not the same without Tex and Archie.

Here is a pic from our table at the gunshow, we also had Paul Tibbetts as our guest at that show.

I am learning slowly to read Canadian, so I was able to read your reply. Have you all started snow sking up ther yet? It got down to a chilly 78 here last night and a high of only 92 this afternoon. Looks like its going to be a bitch of a winter.

Besides being an ace Tex is an avid collector of firearms and anything doing with the old west, and has probably the best collection of Texas Ranger memerobellia this side of Waco. (No not the baseball team)
