I understand anything we aussies buy from USA has to be either returned or scrapped.. eg C-130Es were not scrapped but resold back to USa or like the C-130As we had before they were all scrapped in oz.

From what i have heard the F-111s due to their abilities will have to be scrapped within Australia if they are not ALL preserved.

The USA wont want them as they have long ago gotten rid of their Pig fleets.

They wont be exported as no country would want them after 40years of flying.

Just seems such a shame that after $billions of dollars the only option left like the stupid F-14 congress act is to scrap them. Taxypayers has the final say over polictians i feel and as such should decide where such expenditure goes on withdrawn items.
