1945 Aircraft Life Jacket ( I want to donate it )

Ok, I have a 1945 Life Jacket that my Grandfather had, he passed in 1989 and I want it to be preserved in some sort of manner.

I want to donate it to a mueseum or a CAF org, but do not know who to contact or if anyone would want it as a donation to his work on restoring a BT-13 to flying condition.

I dont want it to get lost or ruined in my house, so I would want it to go where it belongs, with the other items to honor those who fought and died in wars past.

Any suggestions?

Paul, I’ve donated several things to the CAF Southern Minnesota Wing over the years. There’s also American Wings.

Your grandfather's life jacket would be a nice addition to B-17G Chuckie (and since we're a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donation would be tax-deductible!).

just because you donate it doesn't mean they have to keep it.. Some museums sell off their surplus stuff.. the best thing you can do is keep it for future generations in your family that are interested in it..

I was thinking that Paul was looking for something local to him, but yes, there are plenty of organizations out there.

There nothing wrong with asking them if they really will put it on display, or simply loaning it to them instead of an outright donation.

When I gave a 985 engine stand to the CAF I told them specifically they could do anything they want with it including selling it, but hopefully they will remember my name if I ever need to borrow a tool or something, LOL.
