Post subject:  missing pilot in WW2 - search of information

Hello to everybody,

I have a question, on behalf of a friend of mine; is there a way to identify the carrier from which a US Navy pilot ( of whom I know the name) left for his last flight in the Pacific in 1944? may be shot down or simply fallen by accident...

The full name is the only info that I have of him..as well as the year of his Death.

Thanks for your help.....

Giorgio from Turin (Winter Olympic City 2006) -Italy
