It is with a heavy heart that i pass the news along of Buck Compton's passing .
He has been in less that good health lately and celebrated his 90th birthday just a short while ago.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Please keep them in your thought and prayers

Soft landings Buck. I am glad to have had the pleasure of knowing you.

Turns out he lived about four miles from my house, I just discovered thanks to an article in the newest issue of AVIATION HISTORY that one of the 5 surviving Doolittle raiders, Lt. Col Ed Saylor lives about 55 miles South of me.

Slightly off topic but will ask forgiveness for this one-

Heard on the news this evening that Lynn Buck Compton passed away today at the age of 90.

Many peoples feelings, including those of the men of Easy themseleve, are mixed on the BOB series and the amount of attention they received compared to that of so many others whos actions went unnoticed but were just as great- whatever your stance it can't be denied that the mini series, along with Saving Private Ryan, brought to the forefront an awareness of these men and teh overall acts of bravery and selflesness of there generation at large.

RIP Buck-

Steve

I'm combining all the Buck Compton posts, so things might be a little out of order.
