Walking around a hot rod swap meet I came up on this handle - the owner told it came from a " military trainer from the 50’s". Does anyone here actually know what aircraft it came from?

Thanks for any possible help...

The lever assembly is a fairly generic one, possibly government supplied. I have a pair of them identical to that on a shelf at work, and I've seen the exact same lever fitted with different quadrants labelled as Carb Heat, Cowl Flaps, Bomb Release and a few others. The stamping and detents are different, but the lever mount and mechanism are the same.

The "Rat Rod" genre has rocketed prices for them into silly money on occasion.
