Post subject:  Greenwood Lancaster KB839 Restoration continues

Some say Canada is the Land of the Lancaster... true as we do still have 8 of the worlds surviving lancs.. with a handful of those currently under restoration.

Lancaster KB839 is one of those airframes that is receiving a lot of attention and repair. Situated outside at the Greenwood air Museum Greenwood Nova Scotia. As reported last year, the decision was made by the Museum to remove the nose extension plug a remnant of her AR post war duty fit and convert her back into a bomber once again. Her bomb-aimers section was removed for restoration and a replica nose turret is being created from original drawings and specifications and will be installed when complete. Recently her bomb-aimers section complete in wartime camo paint was reinstalled on the lanc forever giving her a different look one she has not sported for many years. Long term goal is to replace the missing interior of the cockpit so if anyone has any parts that might help speed the process along or would like to donate to wards the Lancaster project please contact the Greenwood Air Museum at :
