Posted in the main forum as well:

We are considering engineering a different magneto system on our L-5. The legacy coils apparently are becoming harder and harder to find. The shop that is working on our bird thinks they can engineer something with a newer type of magneto. This would potentially increase our reliability and hopefully safety as well. Anyone out there done this before? I can't find an STC for this. If you know of one that would be a huge help. I'm not a big fan of reinventing the wheel. Thanks Wixer's in advance for your help! fell free to post here or email me directly at michael.hogan.1966@gmail.com or call 703-431-2288.

Mike: Have you talked with Jim Gray over at the Sentinel Owners group? Jim probably knows every STC there is for an L-5. Jim probably knows if there has been any 337's too.

You might also try the folks at Aircraft Magneto Service a try. If they can't help, there probably isn't help to be had.
