Hello Folks. Things are progressing well with the rebuild of Jerry Yagen's FB26 Mosquito KA114, and we are planning to fly in September this year.
I'm placing regular updates of the progress here. http://www.facebook.com/avspecs

Thanks for sharing, Warren! I know a lot of people around the world and (like myself) in New Zealand are very excited to watch this amazing project come to fruition.

Hello Warren,

Welcome to the WIX and let me add my thanks to the others for taking the time and effort to share with us updates on what is undoubtedly among the most exciting warbird restorations in the world today. What a magnificent achievement!

Another welcome to the world of WIX. Thank you for taking the time to post updates on this fantastic restoration here and on Facebook. It's great to be able to follow the progress of the Mossie- probably the most epic restoration to fly that can be undertaken, IMHO. Look forward to following the progress and seeing her in the air someday!

The video on the CAD-driven router is enough to make a grown man cry. It is beautiful to watch, and as one who has spent a day on a rib getting it just right, well, it just sucks. I want one!

:drink3: If the Brits had had that during WWII, they might have won the war...

Hi,

Someone has an idea how this bird will travel to the collection of Mr Yagen ? The Mosquito could be disassembled ? Or is more like the P38 (like the Red Bull example and its unusual journey to Europe)
I suppose that a ferry flight accross the Pacific is not in reasonable solution.

It'll travel in a container aboard a ship, almost certainly.

Unless of course they can snag an Air Force C-17, like we did for our P-40.

At least the USAF C-17s are regularly in NZ anyway!

I've had the pleasure to have visited with Warren and the guys at Avspecs several times in the last 5-8 years when my Kiwi wife and I travel from Florida down to Auckland. She "knows" that a trip to Ardmore is always on the Trip Agenda as it will be early next year on our next visit!

Here's the Mossie wings early on......

The top of the wings were smooth as glass!

When I was there in 2009, it was covered up at the time.....
