What I know:
1. They came from an old-timer, who was a pre-WWII USN vet (I have his photo album as well). He rejoined in WWII and was a Seabee in the Pacific.
2. There are no discernible marks. The green-painted portion is made of aluminum and looks hand-made. The black portion is very lightweight steel that has welding on it. The leather looks original to the piece.
I suspect they are Japanese, based on some other things I have seen made out of very lightweight steel with similar welding. I'd appreciate any opinions.
