Post subject: | Newbie question : Safe rust removal ? |
Hi everyone, May seem a strange question but I do need some help here.... I have a few pieces small and quite large, that require removal of rust and in some cases heat marks (on stainless steel) I have used rust remover before but as I am having to do this at home (in the garden and with two young kids running about) I am concerned about health and safety. So question is - are there any rust/heat mark removal products that you would recommend that won't cause havoc on my health or more importantly my children's health (and protect the marriage of course!) ? I would move it all to a warehouse soon enough - if I had the money to pay such insane rental prices ! Have tried some easy stuff like vinegar, borax/baking soda paste but with limited results. Just need to get it to a decent level so as to ID the part or on the big parts' case, ready for refinishing.. Cheers |

Abrasive blasting might be best. What do you mean by heat marks? |

The heat marks are from when the aircraft was chopped up and put thru a smelter. Its only a couple of bits and they are relatively small but can be useful for patterning... |
