Hi everyone,

May seem a strange question but I do need some help here.... I have a few pieces small and quite large, that require removal of rust and in some cases heat marks (on stainless steel) I have used rust remover before but as I am having to do this at home (in the garden and with two young kids running about) I am concerned about health and safety.

So question is - are there any rust/heat mark removal products that you would recommend that won't cause havoc on my health or more importantly my children's health (and protect the marriage of course!) ? I would move it all to a warehouse soon enough - if I had the money to pay such insane rental prices ! Have tried some easy stuff like vinegar, borax/baking soda paste but with limited results. Just need to get it to a decent level so as to ID the part or on the big parts' case, ready for refinishing..

Cheers

Abrasive blasting might be best. What do you mean by heat marks?

The heat marks are from when the aircraft was chopped up and put thru a smelter. Its only a couple of bits and they are relatively small but can be useful for patterning...
