Found a photo on the internet while doing research. Taken at the Northrup Employee Airshow in 1983: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kensaviation/3007425294/in/set-72157608579833256/ What is this aircraft? Ken thinks it is similar to a Consolidated PT-3. Is this a PT-11? The outrigger/oleo landing gear, windscreens, tailwheel, and engine are not PT-3. Does this aircraft still exist? Any info about it would be very helpful. Thanks, ~Hilts |

A reply from the Antique Airplane Asso. in Blakesburg, IA says it is a Stearman C-3. VL |

I think this is a Stearman Model 6F, c/n 6003, later converted to a 6-L and registered as N788H. Photos and some text can be found in Stearman: A Pictoral History by Jim Avis and Martin Bowman, published by Motorbooks International. The plane is on the color title pages and again with a caption on pages 38 & 39. Basically, it says it was found in the 1960s by Frank Luft, who finished restoring the aircraft as an AAC YPT-9 in 1966. A quick check on the registration returns it is registered to Yellowstone Aviation Inc, in Jackson, WY. Hope that helps. Randy |
