Post subject:  Gas turbine oil system flushing

Before we run a static gas turbine we would like to run something through the oil system just to have a final flush before we fill it with oil, is there a product or an oil that would be good for this?
Thanks for any help
Matt

I would use tubine oil under pressure and preoil it like any engine. If you think the system is contaminated, flush and check the screens.

What type of engine is it and do you check the maintenance manual for any information?

Thanks Guys,We don't think it is contaminated but as we are changing oil types we wanted to remove any remenants of the old oil, the motor is a GTD-350, I don't recall there being any flushing procedure specified but will double check in the manual.

Is it going to be used on an Mi-2? Pretty robust engine from what I understand. Matt has it right IMHO. I'd still check screens and make sure the different oil isn't going to hurt any rubber seals.

Thanks,
Filters and screens have all been checked before hand, we motored it with a few litres of the stated mil spec oil and it gave good pressure and a nice return back to the tank, went in clear and came back the same colour as the old russian/polish stuff, brown! We will drain it again and re-fill it with clean oil now. The engine is a ground runner and not for use in an aircraft
Thanks again
Matt
