We are looking for the correct paint code (name) for the Navy Blue solid version. Any help with names,codes or sources will be helpful. THANKS JOE

If it is Insigna Blue you are after, the PPG DCC code
is 16017 (FS595 # = 35044).

Your best secondary source for this would be the appropriate volume of the Monogram Official USN Color Guide. For the overall color, I think you'd be looking for Glossy Sea Blue, ANA 623, FS595 #15042, although part or all of the a/c, depending when it was built, may have been in a semi-gloss or matte version of the same color, which would change the first digit of the FS595 code.

Recently I did a google search for Federal paint codes and there is some really good information available online, with color samples and explanations on how the codes are decoded. You can also order color samples but I think they are fairly expensive. Anyway there's a lot of information available on it. I bought the Monogram book but it didn't help me a lot.
