I am able to get my hands on some inexpensive 100 mineral oil for my Harvard (which it currently uses) and some 25/60 for my brother's Yak, however, the oil is about 10 years old. The reduced price is because he wants to unload this "old" oil. Does oil have a shelf-life?

Generally the expiration date can be extended by double if you have the oil tested to ensure that it still meets the original mil spec.

In 1990 I was involved in locating and removing underground storage tanks a a major airline's maintenance base. We found a large underground tank, nearly full of 60 weight recip engine oil. The oil had been in the tank since the airline converted from DC-7's to 707's in the early 1960's.
We sent a sample to our engineering laboratory where it was found to still meet specifications. We donated it to a local A&P school where it was used without any problems.
