Anyone have drawings or pictures for these insert tow plugs? I really need them for the PT-26 but am told they are very similar to the T-6 ones.
Thanks, need to make by Oshkosh.

Hey Scott,
I am sorry I didn't see this until just now. I have been on the road for the past week or so, and am catching up on my "WIX fix" tonight.
If you still need the drawings for the tow ring pins, shoot me a PM or send me an e-mail. I'll see if I can dig them up for you.
I wish I would have seen this sooner...

Not to be redundant here but to close out the thread with what we came up with... here's my version of aluminum insert plugs.
The tow bar was made by someone else in Oshkosh for the CAF Wing here.

I wanted to know what the best material is to manufacturer a tow bar out of? I have a BT13 and I would like to make a tow bar that is strong but very light weight, easy to move around when not attached to the aircraft towing. Could some one tell me if 10' or 12' is the better length and if only one arm should pivot or both arms should pivot at the pintle? I look forward to hearing from someone with some experience. thank you, Stuart

Pete Regina at VNY has made a few P51/T6 tow bars from Aluminum.

The one pictured was built by a guy in OSH and has one pivot leg and one fixed. Legs are two piece for easy travel.

I have one from Camacho Aviation, it works perfect with an assortment of aircraft.
http://camachoaviation.com/494.htmlI have the 2" ball hitch and ring hitch for a pintle hook, in case my tug is down and I have to use my Jeep to put anything away. I also replaced all of the connection bolts with stainless D pins for tearing it down quickly. The other tow bar listed is nice but for me I like knowing there is now way the bar can bounce loose and have the plane roll somewhere where its not supposed to be.
Because it has adjustable casters in the front and wheels in the back and it locks, It can sit perfectly flat and makes a great place to put drain pans under the plane. It works well under my T-6
