Great pictures Dave, thanks for posting.

I wish I had a project like that to work on! She looks really good.

I can't wait to see her all cleaned up and ready to show off!

Cheers,

David

Thanks again everyone for the support. I also wanted to ask if anyone got pictures of her arrival, is it possible to get some copies? my email link works, and can handle as many photos as you can send.

Shes available for tours anyday, Im happy to share this aircraft with anyone who comes through town, just PM me and well set something up, I seem to have the week booked with tours afterwork, so WIXers dont have to wait for the weekend if you can only make it out during the week.

Seems like a lot of these have made it to SoCal in the past year. Palm Springs has one, there is another undergoing maintenance at Aero Trader in Chino, and now the Camarillo example.

I say paint her up as "Jiminy Cricket" (Tunisa 1943). Anybody have a pic of this specific C-47?

I stopped by Camarillo yesterday to see it. It's amazing how clean it is for it's age.

I couldn't help but notice the Mallard. The Israelis called these Mallards in their service.

How about 'STUKA CHASER' the only transport I know of that caused another, enemy aircraft to surrender to in flight when the cabin crew pointed .45's and Thompsons out the door, I believe it accounted for 6 scores on enemy aircraft. 8)

***RESTORATION UPDATES***

http://aluminummistress.org/
Hey there. Just wanted to let everyone know we are starting a progress report page for the restoration where people can watch the restoration from start to finish.
Its been going well. We have been on a 4 day work week every week just about. Lots accomplished and lots more will be done prior to Christmas.
Goal for first flight again will be Mrach 09 , just in time for the Airshow season.

I want to thank the group of new volunteers and veterans of the AAF for their hard work up to this point. We have had many new faces around the place to help out. Anyone interested please email us, would love to have more WIXers out once in a while.

Also I have added a Parts Needed and Parts for Trade page to let people see what I have come up with to trade for other items. If anyone has any DC3 / 47 parts they want rid of, well take them By-the-way to trade for needed items.

Thanks for Staying tuned.

Dave

Website updated with new photo gallery. Also Restoration Progress page added with weekly pics, parts needed page and parts for trade page.

All's well and the plane is currently being media blasted for repainting inside the aircraft.
