So are ya gona do some advertizing for Anderson by adding thier name on a plaque or something?
They've come through with some top quality engines, as we all should know one of them meant for FiFi ran a good race at Reno last September, Anderson had some good placing engines in that event. So does all this mean that B29 is going to be flying soon? Make sure that gas can in the rear is tied down, don't want any more Keybird deals.

Each day is one day closer to the goal. Dave and I are planning on getting #2 cowled and prop put on tomorrow. #3 engine (will be in #1 position) will be in Midland next week.

Dave and his ALL VOLUNTEER crew are working hard to get us flying this summer. It will happen this year, but only when Dave says so!

I would like to offer a toast to Dave for all the work he has done :drinkers:

I am sure Dave will welcome just about any help he can get, and trust me you will not regret it! Just don't wear clothes that you don't want ruined.

FIFI has been modified with several extra batteries so it is not mandatory to run the APU for engine start, during ground ops and in the traffic pattern like the originals.

I remember that Gary mentionned the add of some batteries.
I just don't remember if the APU is still used on some case ? kept in running condition ?

Regards ;)

The APU is fully operational and used when needed/wanted, it's just not required anymore. Gary did a beautiful job cleaning up and keeping it looking nice. I'm pretty sure there's pictures of it in previous posts on this thread. They also have a very nice fire suppresion system installed just for the APU that will ensure no Kee Bird type accidents occur.

We will keep the "Putt Putt" operational and we do run it occasionally to make sure it stays in good working order. We will use it as a primary backup to the batteries but will also use it on occasion operationally for crew profiency.
As far as advertizing for Anderson, I will leave that up to them. It is a fact that "FIFI " will fly with 4 Anderson Aeromotive engines and we will give them all the credit that is due to them for that accomplishment! They have been great!
Chris said we would get the cowling on #2 and hang the Prop today and that is what we did!! :D :D I couldn't be happier that we got all that done. My thanks to Chris, Neil, Damon and Hugh for there help. I couldn't have done it without them!! Some other good work got done that needs mentioning. A young couple of students were here this morning for a few hours and they helped out as well. My thanks to Wesley and Ashley for there contribution!!
Pics will follow in a few days, I left the camera at the hangar?

Hey Dave, with the new engines, is there a difference (and have you determined how much of one) in the load on the batteries during start from the old system? I imagine the change in ignition systems has some effect, but I'm just wondering if the new engines are harder or easier on the batteries than the original or if the changes don't amount to a difference.

Hey John! #3 is coming to Midland next week. Anderson had a successful test run at there shop yesterday and it will be in the can by tomorrow! Get yer butt out here and give me a hand! Don't be like the rest of those pilots, come and help out a bit. You will love it and appreciate what we do to keep em' flying!

Dave

Dave,

I would love to come out, but right now I am on reserve to fly the Boeing. It isn't allowing that much time off. But I will be at ADS next weekend. See you there!!

When I stopped by the hangar a bit ago, Dave had the new #3 engine on the stand and I took a few pictures to share. He will be posting more later, I'm sure. Enjoy.
