Yes, shortening the nose is still on the list; at this point, right before the bomb bay doors. Of course, as with almost everything with this plane, something sounding somewhat simple such as taking a splice out of the nose to shorten it isn't so simple. The RY-3 nose mod starts back at the bulkhead just forward of the bomb bay and removing only some of it is proving to be more engineering than anticipated. The other thing holding this mod up is the original style canopy & windows would be installed at the same time; I haven't been able to find a canopy yet......

The thread is being looked at by one person I know of, to be transformed into a book.

Knowing what Gary went through with his own efforts to do a book of his own about the restoration of the B-24A.
I'd sure have a hard getting around the idea of someone else doing it now unless all the proceeds went to the
Humane Society, the Young Eagles or beter yet to Cleco and Merlin who Gary loved so very much!:idea:

Ok ladies and gentlemen, it's now again time for Ol' 927 to be down for winter maintenance! We have the Ol' girl mostly inspected and found many things that need to be corrected, worked on, fixed, addressed, replaced and cleaned up. We are asking any and all that want to come out and help to contact me thru this forum and I will get you involved. All skill levels can assist but A&P's are really needed the most. This is the most fun when there are many hands helping and I assure you, it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on! There are two airlines maintenance bases in the Dallas area, SWA and AA. Is there a way to get the word out to those men and women, that this piece of History, this National Treasure needs there help? It's Winter! What else do you have to do?
Warning! Once you do this, you may become addicted and find yourself neglecting your family, friends and neighbors!

Dave

I just got the "IN MEMORY OF GARY AUSTIN" stickers that Simon Diver made for us. They are available for sale thru me at this point, for $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of an aircraft sponsorship in Gary's name for the B-24 and the B-29. They measure 3" X4" and are darker green than the picture I took shows. Mail check or money order to;
