Here are a few pics from the first run up

Gary is starting out with a brief for all personnel around aircraft

It sure was nice to hear that engine run and see her out under the sun and not in the hanger.

I was not able to get more pictures as I was very busy with runup

Everyone,

Thanks to Cavanaugh Flight Museum we are going to fly to Addison using a loaner from them. The engine is only to get the aircraft to CFM and I hope to be in Dallas before the end of June. The situation is very fluid and is subject to change so don't develop lock jaw on this information.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

Jason, I'd be more than interested to hear when are you going to be in CFM as I live practically around the corner and sure would not mind a visit. Please keep us posted.

I will let you know when we are going to be in town. Should be toward the end of the month.

Jason,

How are things coming along? Do you know what shows might be canceled?

Well, I have the engine from CFM (on loan) here and waiting to hang it. Hopefully will be done with flush of lines and tank today. Already have the prop and dome flushed. Waiting on prop Gov flush. Already have the engine mounts, Gen, Starter, etc swapped. If all goes well we will be doing ground run by end of week.

As far as shows are concerned the following are still a go if we can get an engine up for tour.

Duluth, MN
Oshkosh
Thunder Over Michigan
Indianapolis, IN
CAF Midland, Tx

But remember the situation is fluid and constantly changing in regard to aircraft, engines, and timeframes.

I wish you the best of luck for getting her up and running again.

Cheers,

Jason, have the results of the oil analysis come back yet or has it been determined what failed in the engine?? I just find it hard to believe that a freshly overhauled engine with less than 50 hours would do this!! Whomever this engine builder is, should know that if he does not make good with his warranty and make things right, his name will be mud in the warbird world and likely not see any business from anyone! It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Dave,

Since your here working today...lol
Thanks for the help!

We will hopefully start tear down on the engine next week and then I will have facts to share until then I try not to worry about what things could be..I have to take it a day at a time and wait on the facts so solid decisions can be made. As far as the engine builder..components fail and many of the parts used are coated by 3rd parties, so they do not always have control of the performance of the engines. So I'm not going to sink a builder, we all make mistakes and do not have control of everything.
So we will see ......

We have finally made it to Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Texas.
TA, Becky, and Shorty have been busting their collective tails cleaning the old girl for the upcoming flybys and press releases. My hat is off to them for their hard work.

I will have more news soon about the tour stops and engines.

Jason,

I was hoping to be up there for Kaboom Town tomorrow, but I will have to work. :(

If you have time, try to stop by and say hi this weekend down at the DFW wing. I'm sure everyone would like to meet you. :)

Happy Fourth of July everyone!! I just want to share a few things with you all. First off I spent a week down at Midland, working with Jason. We worked on getting the #3 engine finished up which is old news now. I want to say that Jason is hard working and a very good mechanic. He has worked his tail off accomplishing all that has been required and asked of him. His work and dedication to our cause is first rate. My hats off to him and all of those that came down to help get our stubborn old girl flying again. Bravo :D
