I will never forget, except I already forgot the month and year.., but I was teaching my oldest daughter how to ride her bike in 2004 and I was thinking back to when my father taught me how.., and low and behold I heard a drone of not one, two, but four engines. It got louder and more familiar and I looked up and flying just below the cloud cover (enough that the wispy trails or vortices from the clouds were trailing off of her wing tips) was beautiful Fifi coming back from an airshow on Long Island somewhere and flying across near my old house in Brooklyn Heights. She was headed straight towards downtown NYC. What a beautiful site. All of the sudden my father was right by my side. (he flew them in WWII)
Thanks guys for a great moment in my life. (if I could just remember the year??)

Today was somewhat productive! I only got a couple of pics as I was all over with the B-23 disassembly?? Tomorrow the #2 engine will be coming off and I'll try to pic doc the event.
Dave

This is Jim and Tom, my two most regular volunteers!!! They are boxing up the #2 oil cooler for transport to Pacific Oil Coolers for the routine, flush and Veratherm O/H.

This pic shows Bob getting started on unhooking all the lines that I showed him to remove and bagging and tagging them.

More to come so stay tuned!

Mark, Bob and I, finished getting the #2 engine removed and into the engine stand. I also had two of my faithful senior volunteers, starting to remove components. They love this stuff!! We finished the day by getting the intercooler plenum out, WOW! A very productive day. I'll post some pics tommorrow.

If not, there's plenty of work to do here at Austin Acres. :-)
