There was talk about it early on, but I haven't heard anything in a while. They might be working on it, but I don't know.

Mustang51, let us know if you can view these photos taken last week.

Here are the four bomb racks received from Quest Master prior to installing them. Notice that they are all of slightly different lengths, this was due to the way they were removed from the original airplane.

This leg was the only one still full-length, notice how the scrapper carefully torched off the mount but didn't melt the aluminum leg.

Here is a shot of the aft right rack, the tubular structure is the mount that fastened the racks to the aft spar of the wing box.

This photo shows factory assembly men attaching the aft rack mount to the wing box.

Here is a photo of a very early B-24 bomb bay with the aft left rack installed. Notice that the catwalk over the keel beam is only 8 to 10 inches wide.

Finally, here is another shot of the current configuration in Old 927. When the full modification is performed the doors will be installed and a keel beam will have to be fabricated or donated if anyone has a chicken coop made from a B-24 fuselage that they aren't using.

Gary, the paint looks great! Definitely flat, no if's, and's or but's. The rollers on the doors look like they should work for you the way you wanted them to. Nice job! I know I was one of the one's that suggested you just close up the tail gunner area with sheet metal and Lexan. Poke a gun out of a canvas boot and don't worry so much about the need for it to open. I know you want it to be right but try not to lose too many more sleepless night's over it. Hopefully in time, some photo's will surface from someone in the U.K. of the tail gunner area of an "A" model. This would obviously be an enormous aid, in the fabrication process. Having said that, Wixer's, put the word out that we need real photo's of that area. Inside and outside.

What is cool about the rollers Gary is that you get to use real B24 parts.

They may not be at their original location or serve the intended purpose....But B24 parts they are.

Hey Gary are you going to come to Oshkosh? If you are, it would be awsome to meet up. The work you are doing is great. This is the best that she has looked, well, ever. have you ever been through Pittsburgh, PA with it. it came here like a year ago.

I don't have any intention of going to Oshkosh personally. Reno is more my cup of tea. However, I don't know if Ol' 927 is going to be there or not. If it is, I suspect that I'll have to go as well. Stay tuned.

I was in Pittsburgh with FIFI & Lil back in 2004, but haven't been back since.
