I geek was pondering the tire sizes on the main gear of the B-17 and B-29.
Are the wheel and tire size of the main gear the same? pop2

I'm told by a friend of mine, who knows a lot about B-29's, that the main tires are the same on both planes, just twice as many on the -29.

True statement.

We bought a batch of new tires a couple of years ago along with the P2V and B-17/24 people from Dunlop Tires, in England. We just had a batch of them recapped as the recap rubber seems to be harder which lasts longer.
