Hi,

We've had hot oil since day one with our P-40N. With the original old stock cooler we limped. Last spring we put in a Pacific cooler. Now we limp with the occasional sprint.

What we're looking for is an oil cooler matched for the "M" or "N" with the -81 engine, with the 3-hole rotary-type vernatherm. (NOT a single-hole one for a D or E.)

We'd like to buy a serviceable one, but are interested in any condition.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

The only condition behind me telling you this is that if it works out I can come for a ride

Have you tried Aero-Classics Heat Transfer Products in La Verne, California? They do alloy P-40 oil coolers and the heat transfer is slightly better than the brass/copper, they also weigh less which is a nice bonus.
The address and number is;

1677 Curtiss Court
La Verne, CA 91750

909-596-1630
909-596-1753 Fax

Im not sure if they do the 3-hole rotary-type vernatherm setup but as they are custom made and machined it may be possible without to much trouble, worth asking for sure.

Im sure you have tried Replicore in New Zealand as well, potentially that is what you have I guess.

Thanks, Ryan. No I didn't know about them -- I'll give them a call.

Yes, we've been in touch with Replicore, but they don't have a product for us at the moment.

OK, I called them -- they're Pacific Oil Coolers. That's the one we have in the airplane now. It is an improvement on the original that came with it, but we're looking for a bit more.

Ryan if you know someone who has one of the late-model 3-hole oil coolers, let me know. Even if it is not airworthy, we may be able to have it re-cored.

Thanks,

Dave
