A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

An interesting bit of information on P-51 spinners. Avia is making new P-51 spinners. I just had an oppertunity to compare the new build spinner to a stock Ham Standard spinner. Overall, the thickness of aluminum in the Avia spinner is somewhat thinner than the original spinner. I do not think that the Avia spinner is as strong and durable as the original North American mfg. In my opinion,I don't think that the new one's will hold up as well. I don't know if the Avia spinner can be used on a Limited catagory registered P-51 legally.
