Warbird Information Exchange

I was wondering if anyone else has come across excessive soot in their intake. We had the intake and Venturi full of soot, no intake fire or back firing. I'll post a separate accident report later.

Below is a link to the NTSB report for a Stearman that crashed up north. The weird thing is the findings are identical to our findings. We are annualling our stearman at the museum. The only difference is we have not had a fire or failure. I'm sure it was coming after we found this. I actually taxied out to fly and turned back because it was puffing black smoke.
