A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

I was under the impression that AvGas burns cooler than regular gas? It certainly burns slower.

& to add to my post above about 100LL in my bike:
I had one of those Prius rip offs run up my exhaust pipe for about 25 miles on a freeway a few weeks ago. I'd like to think that I coated his car with enough lead to counteract any benefit his car made have made to ridding the planet of pollution for the entire life of his car 8)

In college, I ran a 1970s Datsun B210 for several months on old 130 octane avgas. The FBO wanted to switch the storage tank to 100LL, so the gas was free. I beat the heck out of that car because I was going to junk it upon graduation and entering the USAF.

Never noticed any adverse effects, even after taking it up through the apple orchards and getting it airborne a few times. One tough little car that refused to quit.
