Vintage Pitot ID?

Fri May 23, 2014 11:55 am

This is not doing anyone any good, sitting in a box on the shelves. Can anyone help ID this NOS, vintage Pitot tube? Seems a bit large for the smaller civil aircraft, and I suspect it is light warbird related, or vintage observation, liason, trainer??? The flat bracket with the "P" and "S" is 3 1/2 inches wide. Other dimensions are shown in the photo.
Anyone here, using one of these?

You are correct in it being light-warbird. There is an AN number for it, with a dash number indication LH, RH and centered versions. My TG-4 had two somewhat mangled version fitted, so I had done a little research on just this very bit. Unfortunately I don't have my notes handy to give you the exact part number.

I found one on ILS once, but the vendor wanted more than it's weight in gold for it (sadly NOT an exaggeration)
