A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

The C-47 in Hondo disappeared for about a week then came back. Now it's parked in front of the terminal, beautifully polished and sporting stars and bars. Tinkerbelle is gone from the nose too. That alone is a marked improvement. Now what?

Will we get to see her in the air soon?

Yes! Surprised anyone noticed the Stars and Bars. Something so simple really ain't when you try to lay them out. Thanks to Doug over at Cavanaugh for reminding me of the formula to lay them out. Annual is done and we should be flying in a few days,......weeks...............certainly not longer than that. Where are you at Paladin, could always use a hand on her.
P.S. She was in front of the terminal for our Vetrans Day Celebration

I wish I could help some. I am not from there and don't get there too often. There is a fellow who is an Aviation Hisrotian from Australia that is interested in this particular aircraft and wants to know of it's progress. I just check on it and send him my reports and photos. Every time I visit there I cannot find anyone around that knows anything of the plane. I may be there within the week. Perhaps I will find someone who knows what the timeline is. Meanwhile, I have forwarded the info you have provided. Thanks

Way to go Mates! Another warbird in the air and what a classic. The C-47/DC-3 has an allure to it that sets it out in a class of its' own. Is it a Commemerative Air Force aircraft? Will you be touring the States with it? Do you have a posted schedule? When and Where will pictures be avaiable? CONGRADULATIONS! I believe I will have a pint of ale to toast your success.

Answers to your questions as asked: 1) Heck no not a CAF aircraft..........subject for long discussion.
2)Touring the Southwest
3) No schedule yet
4) Pictures when I figure out how (after the holidays anyway)
Bring the Pint by and we will share.
