Fairchild C-82 to be auctioned!

Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:21 pm

:shock: Just heard tonight that the C-82 will be auctioned early next year! :Hangman: ( :wink: ) Here's the info. I got;

"Currently, the aircraft is part of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) inventory. It was planned to be transferred to the FAB's Air Museum in Rio de Janeiro, but as there is another C-82 in the museum, it was decided that this plane will be auctioned early next year."

I have decided that while I would love to do a salvage op., that my current $1250 won't do a whole heck of a lot :roll: so, If anyone wants to buy it for themselves (or help raise funds), now is the time. The guy who took the pictures, and found out the info., Alexander Raff-Lehner, says he would go inspect it and photograph it if I (or someone else for that matter) paid for the plane ticket down there from Sao Paulo, around $250-400.

Of course, the plane is C-82A PP-CEL (N7855B), S/N 45-7783, C/N 10153.

What's the going price for a c-82?

The big question is, is it going for higher or lower than the current price for scrap aluminum? I have no idea of how strong the warbird community is down there, but just the cost of moving her up here adds a huge overburden on that scenario. :( On the good side, they don't have the FAA down there, so it could be a good deal cheaper there to fly her.

Sorry for no response at first, have not been on the computer the last few days.

My guess would be anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000, could go for much more, or much less, though. I would think more on the low side, myself.

I would think that you would want to take it apart and ship by sea to the location of where you would work on it, lots of parts to be made. Brazil does have a thing like the FAA, just not quite as strict in some areas. (Or it used to be.)
