A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

Pretty clever marketing video! When I was in school, we had ONE female student, that was the early 60's and Karen was treated like a freak for wanting to be in a 'mans job'. I went to Junior High and High School with Karen and she WAS definately not, as Robin Williams puts it 'a large woman in comfortable shoes' she was slim and pretty and cute, and had more than her share of boyfriends and was pretty active-er-socially, and was a pretty direct and tough chick who took zero crap from anyone.
Her best 'get back' was on one of the Instructors who told her to 'go get some prop wash'. She never batted an eye, went to the tool room and got a 5 gallon gas can and a funnel and went out to where some students were running up an old SNB. She placed the funnel in the cans spout, placed the can behind the trailing edge of the wing with the funnel facing forward and went over to the fence and had a smoke all in plain sight of the Instructors Office window. Came back, got the can and funnel, walked into the Office dropped the can on the desk with an off handed 'here ya go Bob' and put the funnel back in the toolroom.
Too bad she gave up and went elsewhere before completing her training.

Here would be the pilot's answer:
Ahem...it's probably best to keep the volume down, ESPECIALLY if you're at work!
