A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

We need some small lever springs made for engine contols. Does anyone know where you can have springs made. I have one good and one bad spring. Made from what looks like .060 size wire, v shaped about 1 inch long leg on each side. They are used on the lock levers for the Carb Mix levers.
Any help welcome.
Kurt.

I think there are several machine shops specializing in springs.

There is a shop in Chandler Az that does springs, should not be hard to find them in the phone book. I can drive there, but don't remember the name of the place.

This may sound odd, but you might try the local gunsmiths. Some of these guys specialize in restoring antique firearms and quite often have to fabricate springs. Brownells, who supplies this type of business, has a good selection of water and oil hardening spring wire available.

Look at McMaster-Carr. They have an on-line catelog and sell all kinds of springs. Be careful that you DO NOT mention "for an airplane" as they will stop you dead in your tracks...at least that is my experience!
