I'm sorry, but I'm drawing a blank on who the best person to ask about this would be.

If all else fails, the Smithsonian (National Air & Space Museum) should have all of them on Microfilm.

thanks guys
the above bp is apparently from the smithsonian collection
do you think it would be possible to
contact them directly and try to obtain a 'cleaner' copy?
if so, how would i go about this?
thanks

Congrats on your work. Looks great.
Quick question- do the leading edge skins get held together with anything other than screws that attach them to the ribs?
Do they just sit on each other where they overlap?
Thx

here are the 4 known pics of fort sill L-4Bs

right now i'm trying to determine the color of the numbers on the side
some think they were insignia blue like the circle around the star
and some think they were black
no one knows for sure

in my 1st post
i edited in a better drawing of 21863

i did buy the rolls of microfilm from the smithsonian
and scanned them at high resolution
they are much much better then prior copies

You should make the markings on one side blue and black on the other side. That way you'll always be 1/2 right and never be 100% wrong!

I know, not very helpful, but great work on your project!

now there's an idea...ha
circle will be a very dark insignia blue
(will add some dakota black)
and the numbers will be a flat black
i'll post a picture when i get it done

Typically insignias were pretty standard colors and followed some Federal Standards.
I would say Insignia Blue would be right as a spec.

My mom was from Story City IA. You anywhere near that area of the state?
