My 90 year old, WWII Army Veteran, father gave me an Army issued surplus drab/olive-green, canvas on the outside and wool filling on the inside, sleeping bag, with tag that reads made by Sun Tent Luebbert Company of California. Can't read tags very well & need to clean it! Does anyone have any ideas of how to clean it or any resource to refer to for instructions on best way to clean this item? I've been googling all kinds of combinations of words/companies & haven't come up with anything specific for this kind of sleeping bag. Don't want to ruin it! Brush any dried mud or dust off the shell, open it up all the way and hang it outside for several days to air out. That should take care of most of it. If it is badly stained you might consider taking it to the dry cleaners, but ask around at a few high end camping stores to see if they can recommend one that has experience with sleeping bags vs modern quilts or comforters. The last thing you want is to have it tossed into a big commercial washing machine. |

Thank you for the information. Looks like I'll have to contact high end camping supply stores, maybe our local Army/Navy store or Cabela's are closest to me for best drycleaners info. Thanks again, MaryS. |
