a man in lorain ohio not far from me opened up his dad's war booty bring backs from ww 2 this past week to find a live u.s. infantry mortar shell in his keepsakes. with the ww 2 vets dying at the rate of roughly 1000 per day, you have to be careful when scrounging through your relative's estate. I bought a box lot of a variety of ww2 items at an auction a few years back only to find a live ww2 .50 caliber tracer / incendiary round when I got the box home, complete w/ red tip. shook the round, & sure enough it was packed w/ gun powder. cops were promptly called & disposed of. |

A live .50-cal round from WWII is neither illegal nor dangerous. If I'd found it, it would have looked great standing proudly on my mantle. |
