Hardly aviation related, but uber-cool nonetheless.
Last week I had the privilidge to have a tour of the
newest ship in the US NAVY. USS Mississippi was
commissioned in Pascagoula, MS on Sat., 2JUN.
The contrast between her and my Gato class USS
Drum is astonishing. At the same time many things
found aboard Drum remain in use aboard MS. As
the Chief that gave me the tour said, "If it ain't broke,
don't fix it".
Can't say that about aviation, EVERYTHING is different
now from WWII.
