i knew darpa was experimenting w/ little flying spy drone birds & bugs that weigh no more than a double A battery, but i never realized the technical strides they've made!! a company called aero environment is behind it all. they have experimented with hummingbird sized drones that can film, ease drop etc for national security. the smaller the better, as they are trying to develope insect size spy drones. this technology also has civilian possibilities locating injured people in building or mine collapses, police work etc. the drones just aren't birds & bugs.......... lockheed martin has developed a fake maple seed leaf, or so called "whirlybird" loaded w/ navigational equipment & imaging sensors, the spy plane weighs only.07 ounces!! the hummingbird can imitate the exact movement of a real one zipping around, up, down, side ways etc. it's wing span is 6.5 inches. yes privacy can be an issue too, but i'd say bin laden better watch out for the flies in his cave!! :finga:
