ww 2 pt boats, how did they get to pacific for there size??

being 80 to 100 feet long how did a u.s. navy pt boat make it to an overseas war zone with limited fuel capacity & alot of heavy seas & distance from the u.s.?? certainly the navy didn't escort them with slow vulnerable fuel tankers or oilers!!

I've seen photos of the PT's on deck cradles on larger cargo ships. They were loaded transversly on the decks.

i'd love to see the pics!! perhaps small utility vessels, landing craft were transported in the same manner.

The most famous PT of WW2 was selected by the Navy as a demonstration for loading .
