Throw a nickel on the grass...

A 336 EFS F-15E lost in central Afghanistan last night, both the pilot and WSO confirmed killed in action.

Saw the article in this morning local rag, any info yet? CFIT, missile, or system (s) failures?

Rumor mill is saying either CFIT or mechanical problem. It was at 3 am local time and they were not at a Troops-In-Contact (in other words, not dropping bombs or getting shot at).

Too early to know for certain, though.

Just a follow up to this.

I can't say too much because the report that is currently out is privileged, but this accident was indeed CFIT, not hostile action or mechanical failure.
