On Saturday, Feb. 21, at 8:00 p.m. (check local listings), HBO will air "
Taking Chance," a movie starring Kevin Bacon, based on a story from the anthology,
Operation Homecoming: Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Home Front, in the Words of U.S. Troops and their Families. The anthology, and subsequent Emmy and Academy Award-nominated documentary entitled, Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience, was created by the National Endowment for the Arts and made possible by support from Boeing.
The HBO film is based on the story by Lt. Col. Mike Strobl, a Marine who volunteers to escort the remains of 19-year old PFC Chance Phelps, killed in Iraq, to his family in a small Wyoming town.
