Does anybody have any information about WWII soldier's remains returned during this time period? I know that this was an option for families during the time period, but I am wondering about how it was officially set up, how it was done, etc. This is part of a personal project I am working on. Thanks for your help.

I got this response at armyairforces.com. The first link was exactly what I was looking for; the second link has a very interesting account of a graves registration unit member's experience flying in a glider into Normandy.

Hi Sentinel. First link below is to Quartermasters Website online copy of 1946 pamphlet "Tell Me About My Boy". Gives info to next-of-kin of options and methods of dealing with KIA overseas remains to be returned or buried overseas permanently.

Second link is to the QM link page, scroll down to WWII ... several links to pages about recovery of remains, etc (including the above link)
