Regarding to the British Intelligence who has long time recorded prisoned German nuclear scientist, Germans did not try to make nuke just because of the error in calculation as well they have make mistake in estimated amount of Uranium need for bomb and that was some 1000 kg (quantity impossible to reach in that time). Actual quantity was much less but thanks to the calculation error we are still alive.

If you have any evidence that I have ever written anything antisemetic on Wix, then I'd like to see it. If not, your idea that I would likely write something that way, seems not to be based on any facts, rather your prejudice.

I am not of the opinion that Israel is always right and beyond reproach, but they are our allies and mostly better than their neighbors and enemies. I have flown with one of Israel's fighter pilots.

But my topic was about the development of nuclear weapons, and how the antisemitisim of the Nazis affected that. It was not about my attitudes, pro or con or today's attitudes.

very valid points have been made as to the german nuclear bomb program / jewish scientists connection. i have read in a number of books that this fact pissed the saurkraut out of hitler.

Besides the nuclear program, the Nazis killed off a large talented labor force, although it was slave labor, they needed the labor force for arms production. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it wasn't until 1943 before the Nazi goverment went in to total war production, and by then it was too late both time wise and labor wise. I've read where industrialists in the eastern territories were begging the Nazis NOT to kill off the Jews because of their importance to the labor force.

Tom, that is a funny way to put it, I got a laugh out of that.
If you were a German Jewish scientist, can you imagine anyone giving you more motivation to work tirlesley to invent the atomic bomb, than someone like Hitler, who causes many Jews and others to leave their home country, murders their friends and relatives, and subverts freedom and democracy. No payment of money by the U S or Brits would match that motivaiton.

Tom, by the way, I don't like bagels, it seems to me that they are just donuts without the sweet part. I don't really know what lox is, but I am sure it is not something a Texas wasp would eat. Isn't LOX, liquid oxygen for rocket engines or locks something we stole from Panama?

a very valid point that the germans cut their own throats in regard to getting things done by chasing away those with the technical skills before the war, & killing off their labor force during the war. many of today's burgeoning international companies such as BMW, VOLKSWAGEN, PORCHE to name a few have dirty hands because they used cheap expendable death camp labor. the jewish point is moot. many of the japanese industries we have today are no different. what pisses me off is neither country's top industry doesn't aknowledge these dirty & heinous facts to this day. the u.s. government isn't excluded either by turning the other cheek in regard to military technology ( operation paper clip, the capturing of as much nuclear data & scientists as possible by letting war criminals off the hook for crimes in the name of military advancement) it must not be forgotten that the mentally ill, plain ill, gypsies, countless russians, catholics, communists, homosexuals, & the physically impaired were all working under duress in conditions beyond belief. the human / humanity factor was well beyond decency & never a factor of concience. revolt was impossible with the enemy holding all the aces........ food to survive to work while having a gun to your head.

Tom, we don't eat too much salmon in Texas because we have real food like Bar B Q,and in Colorado we have fresh Rocky Mountain trout.
They have salmon in Alaska, do you think Sarah Palin was normal before she ate too much salmon?

Scott, I have a Republican pilot friend in Texas who says. "they're making fun of my Sarah again." So I'll try not to make too much fun of your Sarah. I'll leave that to Tina Fey who made her career famous on it. It's just that she is the only Salmon eater that comes readlily to mind for me. She does have somewhat of a sense of humor, she said they have organic food in Alaska. you just got to shoot it first.

As for civil, I don't see anyone much being disrespected other than Nazis here.

As long as we're speaking in "what if's", imagine if Hitler wasn't the fanatic that he was in regards to the Master Race, and only sought to build an empire? Suppose he had been only slightly imperialistic, but was generally good for Germany rising from the ashes of WWI. He builds Germany into a Superpower, retaining all of the Jewish atomic scientists, happy to be furthering science for the good of Germany. The workforce is immense, all happily working to better Germany. Suppose that the war is still eminent, but where does that leave the Allies? Suppose Europe is on pins and needles, but Hitler concentrates ALL of his efforts on Russia.

There are a million and one variables in a scenario like that. I think I'll stop now because my head is starting to spin... and someone probably already wrote that novel anyway. :shock:

What if America was never involved in WWII? Where would we be now?

Since WWII brought the US from a largely agrarian based society to where we are now (took farmboys and put them through college via the GI Bill) how technically advanced would we be now?
