O.K all,
As we are in the middle of restoring our C-10 "putt, putt" generator we are in need of a maintenance manual AND the actual power cord that went from the unit to the aircraft. As Taigh is working so hard on the PV-2 and we are the ground crew for the B-24 at bomber camp and the PV-2 when she starts doing camps and such we'd like to be able to hook up to the aircraft as was done for preflight inspections. Try WIKIPEDIA under American Wire Gage, there is a very long, very complex amperage/diameter grid from really tiny up to 4/0. It would be easier for you to view it and figure it out for yourself than for me to try to explain its useage but basically, 4/0 gage is nearly 1/2 inch in diameter and will handle up to 260kA and it drops off from there-great way to spend a Wintery evening.

One thing to keep in mind, the bigger the gage x 4 x length makes for a heck of a lot of weight to drag around on the ramp, get the connectors done professionally as I hate what smells like someone cooking a Pork Roast out on the ramp.

Roger that! I know what cord we used with the new 95 Hobart generators and the cable looks about the same size so I may go that route. The plug is going to be the issue IF I actually can find one. The cable is connected to the C-10 by way of a cannon plug so THAT'S another issue. I was trying to find one of the originals to work off of.

Are you looking for the standard 4 pin with the half length shorting pin? You should be able to find one behind just about any hanger surrounded by old tugs and GPU's check the freight dogs first or one of several big time scrappers yards inventory.

Oh YES T.I, I spent long enough rewiring airplanes to screw up and have to listen to someone screamin' all sorts of stuff at me. No problems and THANKS again!

That's one reason I need the manual. I need to know where to place uach pin on the cannon plug to "link" up with the proper phase from the putt putt.

Question:
The Dutch Fleet Air Arm in the fifties used a ground power unit that was known under the name "Waukesha".
Probably a Waukesha based brand name.
There are no pictures and specifications available in our (Dutch) archives.
Would anyone remember anything of this aircraft starter?

I remeber in the 80's we had the MD-3's that were self propelled power units (until some IDIOT ran themselves over with it and they pulled the drive units)
