Hypothetical: Modern Weapon in Historical Battle or War

Thu May 23, 2013 9:41 am

Having an lively discussion with some friends geek and I thought it would be interesting to pose the same question to the knowledgeable folks of WIX:

Barring the laws of physics and time; if you could take a modern weapon back to a historical battle / war, what would it be?

To start, I have a couple:

M249 SAW
American Revolutionary War / American Civil War

M40 Sniper Rifle
American Revolutionary War / American Civil War

Fletcher Class Destroyer
War of 1812 (Naval Portion)

This was a perennial favourite back in the days of alt.history.what-if on usenet.

The most useful weapon in all pre-industrial conflicts and most post-industrial ones, is a reliable mid-to-long range digitally encrypted tactical radio. Instant and secure communications trumps just about any other weapon you could use
