The Army may have retired them but the Marines are rebuilding theirs and will continue to fly them long term !

Wonder how many Whop whops are still at it out side the military...

I know there are a few "contractors" still using them. As well as a bunch of other operators not counting all the overseas military users.

I imagine that the Huey will be like the old warbirds....will be around for a while. The first Huey I ever took a stab at flight was 66-16096 in 1975, I flew the last time in a Huey in 1990 and was a great deal more proficient. When I hear the familiar thump of a Huey, it stops me dead in my tracks, and I scan to locate the ship. I do know that ifin I was a wealthy man....I'd owned not just a helicopter, but the old reliable a Huey

Gary - I was a DAC at Glenview NAS in Glenview IL during the 80's and one of the Hueys I was responsible for was 66-16096. The facility name was USARASF #26 which has since been torn down. I thought you would like to know.
