Australian Govt has sought price and delivery for 10-14 C-27J's from USA under FMS for RAAF. These are Caribou replacements. The Australian Defence Forces are undergoing big re-equipment now.

New C-17's x 6
C-130J's x 12
F/A-18F's x 24
F-35's x 14 [up to 100]
KC-30's x 5
KA350's x 16
MH-60R's x 24
MRH90's x 46
Tiger ARH x 22

This may have been one of the last RAAF Caribous still on duty and I saw it put on an [url]incredible[/url] performance at an air show (Omaka) in Blenheim, New Zealand (South Island) in 2009. This was on grass too! SHORT landings and SHORT takeoffs! The comment by the announcer was that the RAAF used the Caribous for so long because no other airplane could do what it could do!

Australian Govt has just been approved by US Congress to buy 10 C-27J's and a sim etc etc...

It's happening.

*The Caribou is a special airplane. Bit like the C-47/DC-3 in that old age put her out to pasture.

ADF will use C-27 in a role that supports the C-130J fleet and the Army. Chinooks will do the other bit...
