Great piece of flying, I remember when it happened. Also love the typically stiff, self conscious, flat pitched raised voice style of the presenters.

Its great footage and a great story.looks kinda like some of the shot up B-17's in WWII.My ex's cousin flys for Delta I think and she alway's said"if its not Boeing,I'm not going" one other little thing that really doesnt matter here was the guy saying the plane turned north over Wagon Mound New Mexico.My father was born in Wagon Mound and I have never heard anyone but family mention it. its called wagon mound bcause theres a hill that looks like a wagon crossing the prairie and was the first hill to be seen as the pioneers crossed the prairie.next door to Oklahoma..for what ever its worth. but the fact the plane flew was amazing

Back in that time frame Boeing had a reputation for having big hunks knocked off, and still getting home. A PAN AM 707 out of SFO that blew the outer wing and engine off on rotation and made it safely to Mather, a TWA 707 that lost the other side outer wing and engine in a mid air with a CONNIE, and a 707 in Formosa that midaired with a ROC F-84 (?) when the fighter pilot misjudged his altitude and took most of the vertical off the 707 which landed safely. On the other side of the coin, there was a 707 for BOAC that was hit by lightning over Japan and came out of the sky like confetti.
