A life long friend of mine who is currently serving on Active Duty in the Air Force. He went to a gun show in Colorado Springs yesterday, where he is stationed, and bought a rifle. He had to wait all afternoon for his background check to be done "because he's active duty military", said the agent. While at the same time he witnessed “green card” carrying individuals get their background checks done in 15 minutes who were buying the same type of firearms (shotguns, pistols etc.)
This is all due to the recent DHS report labeling military members and veterans as possible terrorist threats. What’s wrong with our country if our government doesn’t trust the military ,that has protected us from those that wish us harm for over 200 years, to buy a rifle?
Now I do remember that Timothy McVeigh was a veteran, but it just doesn't make sense that the background check on a person on Active Duty in the military should be more in-depth than the background check on a registered legal alien. Is it just me or am I missing something?
Please pass this on and remember this the next time you vote. We need to remind our elected officials that they are supposed to be representing us, the U.S. citizens.
