The official caption to this shot reads:-

Spitfire 9 of an unidentified Free French Squadron on a snow covered airfield in the foothills of the Vosges Mountains in Eastern France.

I believe the aircraft is PT 467. This aircraft served with both 326 and 328 Free French Squadrons in the RAF before transfer to the French Air Force on 27 November 1945. It was shipped to French Indo China or as most will know it Vietnam and was a Cat E loss at Sway Rieng on 21 July 1949 with the pilot, Lt Mayot, safe.

PS.

I used this photo as the principal basis to prepare and spec the repaint of this Spitfire, TE184, a few years back

Note the 'French style' RAF serial.

Is that a personal attack on Spitfires in general or Kermit the french in particular?
